If you want a strong, healthy, and beautiful smile, then it’s important to take good care of your gums. However, that might be a difficult task if you’re not sure how to do so. So, to help you, our Great Lakes Family Dental team recommends that you do the following things:

-Brush: Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make sure to brush for two minutes each time and you thoroughly scrub each tooth. Doing so will help remove the plaque and other harmful particles that threaten your gums.

-Floss: It’s best to floss at least once a day—twice, if you can. Flossing will also eliminate the plaque from your teeth, and it will also make your gums stronger. If you floss often, they won’t bleed or swell as you clean your smile.

-Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. Doing so will completely clean your mouth and kill any bacteria that are wanting to harm and damage your gums.

-Eat right: If your teeth stay in tip-top shape, so will your gums. So, it’s best to avoid eating and drinking sugary and acidic products as much as possible.

-Visit the dentist: Make sure to visit your dentist every six months. Doing so will help you remove the tartar that threatens your oral tissues and creates gum disease.

Doing these things will help you have a top-notch oral health and strong and healthy gums.
